Unai [Intro]

Unai woke to the sound of the otter-penguins chattering. /How long have I been here?/ She asked herself sleepily. It was freezing. There was ice covering Unai's fur hood, hair, eyelashes, nose, and pretty much everything else that was sitting exposed to the elements all night. Or, in this case, the element, since there is only one out here: Water.

Unai groaned as she rose, and examined her surroundings. Her boat was bumping hollowly against a nearby iceberg, which was covered in a sea of otter-penguins. /Had I been out here all night? Again? Unai wondered. This was the third time she fell asleep fishing.

She just feels so at home in the ocean, so calm. It's no wonder falling asleep is easier out here than it is back in the run-down hut back at the village. Unai yawned, stretched her arms to the sky, and slumped back down. She had to be careful not to rub her eyes; if she did, her eyelashes would snap right off. Too many villagers had already lost facial hair because of the unforgiving ice.

Unai looked around for an oar and, not seeing one, stood ready in her starting position. Then, ever so gently, she navigated her way out of the maze of ice and driftwood. Once out of the ice, Unai sped up, moving so fast that her hood fell off of her head to reveal dark brown hair braided to the side, as usual. It was getting pretty long now. "Finally," Unai muttered, thinking back to when all of the girls at the village had long hair except for her.

Unai glared against the sun to see a large, fortress-like village up ahead. There were dozens of waterbenders just like her at the village. As she approached the gate, she bent the ice to melt enough to let her through.

All of the villagers waved and smiled at the short Unai, who smiled and waved in return. "We thought the Sea lion-bears got to ya', Unai!" Some shouted. She laughed. Since her family was taken away from her, Unai has been living alone in her family hut. Unai trotted into her home and started a fire, sat down, and started thawing out her eyelashes.
So nice to be home!
